I create multilayered visual contemporary paintings and mixed-media pieces. Each work of art has a personal story, with aspects of our natural world. All created through a cohesion of color using oil or acrylic paints.
Throughout my life my love of travel and have spent many years hiking through the blue ridge & smoky mountains. Traveling has become a part of my artistic process. Often I create works in series. My series of trees is always ongoing. Each varies in form and themes from small works to large-scale geometric lines, figurative paintings depict the transformation of the female archetype and my landscapes. My pathways are another long running series based on many hikes and wonderful memories of camping trips.
My latest artworks of mixed-media/textile art is a discussion about clothing waste. From gowns to used jeans, the formation of each piece begins after a long process of deconstructing materials, then hand and machine stitching to shape contemporary abstract forms. Attached to reclaimed wood. Each piece is designed with vibrant textured materials.
Along with many local and regional exhibits, my work as coordinator and event planner for
SouthCarolinaArtists.com has been beneficial as a mentor to new and emerging artists.
As a working artist I create masterworks in my studio in Lexington, SC.
